For this reason: the technical indicators of glass rod for external wall insulation projects require standardization, and the purchased glass rod must be qualified before use. When controlling cracks in external wall insulation, not only the insulation layer material is required to have a certain tensile strength and ultimate tensile strength, but also the crack-resistant protective layer material is required to have sufficient tensile strength. For this reason, when selecting glass rod, it is necessary to pay attention to whether the tensile strength of the glass rod itself meets the standard.

(I) The use of glass rod compounded in plastering mortar
On the one hand, it can effectively increase the tensile strength of the protective layer. On the other hand, because it can effectively disperse stress, it can disperse the wider cracks that may have been generated into many finer cracks, thereby forming its crack resistance. The surface coating material and coating amount are of great significance to the alkali resistance of Fiber Glass glass rod, and the Fiber Glass variety is of decisive significance to long-term alkali resistance.
During the use of fiberglass glass rod:
The overlap width between glass rod shall not be less than 50mm. The glass rod at the inner corner shall be overlapped with a width of ≥50mm and at the outer corner ≥200mm. During construction, the glass rod shall be laid flat and wrinkle-free, and the mortar fullness shall reach 100%. At the same time, it shall be smoothed, straightened, and the squareness and verticality of the inner and outer corners shall be maintained.
(II) How to identify the quality problems of glass rod:
1. The market price of the worst fiberglass glass rod is usually around 1.00 yuan to 1.60 yuan. Its Fiber Glass is usually made of waste glass from beer bottles. The production process is clay crucible drawing, which is a production process prohibited by the state. The surface coating is not alkali-resistant emulsion. From an intuitive point of view: the workmanship is relatively rough, and it is generally sold in rolls in the market. It is often insufficient in length and weight, and it breaks after two folds. The joints are not firm and easy to shift, and it is easy to pierce the skin. This type of glass rod used in the insulation layer generally loses its strength after two months. If the mortar is knocked off and the glass rod is taken out, the Fiber glass yarn will become powdery with a slight grind.
2. There is also a kind of imitation platinum fiberglass glass rod, also called mixed silk yarn. This is a better imitation of Fiber Glass, but the waste glass is usually some flat broken glass with good transparency, and the fiber diameter is relatively fine. It is sometimes difficult to judge its authenticity from the surface, but its quality does not meet the requirements of real glass rod in exterior wall insulation.
3. Standard high-quality glass rod all use platinum fiberglass as the base material, and are more particular in both material selection and weaving process. The coating emulsions used all have good alkali resistance. Excellent alkali resistance and high warp and weft tensile strength make the product have good hand feel and good construction compliance, which greatly reduces the amount of plastering mortar.
