Do you know how Glass Mat is made?

March 01, 2024

Glass Mat is a commonly used chemical material. Many friends do not know much about the Glass Fiber production process. Generally, there are two main types of Fiber Glass production: crucible drawing method and pool kiln drawing method. The production of crucible drawing method is to put the fiber in the crucible. The glass is melted into molten glass, which is then made through steps such as drawing, drawing, and threading. The pool kiln drawing method is relatively simpler. It directly melts raw materials such as pyrophyllite into glass solution and then draws it into fiberglass strands.

Good Heat Insulating Material

Fiber Glass is an inorganic non-metallic material with excellent performance. It is made of six kinds of ores such as pyrophyllite, quartz sand, limestone, dolomite, boronite and boronite as raw materials through high-temperature melting, drawing, winding, weaving and other processes. There are two main specific production processes.
Crucible drawing method: This is a two-step molding method. The glass raw material is first melted at high temperature to form glass balls, and then the glass balls are melted twice and drawn at high speed to form Glass Mat raw wire. This process has disadvantages such as high energy consumption, unstable molding process, and low labor productivity, and has been basically eliminated by large fiberglass manufacturers.
Pool kiln drawing method: pyrophyllite and other raw materials are melted into a glass solution in a kiln, and then transported to a porous leaky plate through a passage after removing bubbles, and drawn into fiberglass strands at high speed. The kiln can connect hundreds of leaky plates through multiple channels for simultaneous production. This process is simple, energy-saving, stable in molding, and convenient for large-scale fully automated production. It is the main production process of Glass Mat.
After the Glass Mat is ignited, wait until the temperature of the glass liquid in the crucible reaches 1100-1300°C, and the glass liquid will automatically flow out from under the eyes. If some eyes cannot flow out the glass liquid, then use a wire drawing tool. When drawing wire, keep a straight posture and pull from outside to inside, so that it is not easy to break the wire.
